The Role
The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for managing the warehousing operations of the Central and Regional DCs, by leading and a team of 5-7 warehouse supervisors. The role will serve to re-design, align and implement all warehousing functional processes to achieve operational efficiencies whilst support customer centric business transformation.
Main Responsibilities
Develops processes for receiving products, equipment utilization, inventory management, picking and shipping.
Develops warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements
Designs the daily/weekly/monthly warehousing reporting systems for all DCs to monitor performance against set target
Evaluates performance objectives and metrics to determine inbound or outbound productivity requirements to achieve customer time, accuracy, and quality expectations
Focuses on warehouse health & safety control policies and standard work procedures
Reviews and prepares any action plans while ensuring productivity, quality and customer service standards are met
Supports strategic business management processes (S&OP) by providing functional inputs (cost/capacity/service)
Supports make-or-buy decision in all aspects related to warehousing operations
Leads the selection of third party logistics provides, as well as handling and systems equipment. Manages relationships with 3PLs to ensure optimized service in the areas of warehousing operations
Uses Lean methodology to establish a continuous improvement approach
Identifies warehousing best-practices developments through networking in the industry
Evaluates technological evolution and builds cases for assessing and implementing automation solutions
Communicates and collaborates cross-functionally to assist team to solve operational issues
Develops team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals
Secures high levels of employee engagement and manages personnel challenges, from assessing potential hires to maintaining good retention levels.
Qualifications / Requirements
BS or MS degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of experience in warehouse/distribution center in a management role required
Proven work experience as a warehouse/distribution manager
Experience of managing change in areas of warehousing, logistics and supply chain operations, system development and technology
Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices
Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
Retail and Commercial Experience desirable
Hands-on Experience of various WMS and OMS an advantage
SAP experience preferred
Strong leadership skills with the ability to get results through mentoring others
Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team building skills
